Established in 2012, KEF Infra is a subsidiary of KEF Holdings, which manufactures hospitals, schools, hotels and homes. Headquartered in Bangalore, KEF Infra aims to establish itself as innovators and change agents in the manufacturing industry. By way of robotics and automation in construction, KEF brings in the potential to deliver projects quickly, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
With ‘Fast Forward India’ as their prime moto, KEF Infrahas significantly transformed traditional construction methodologies to directly addresses India’s massive need for infrastructure development. Founded by Mr. Faizal E. Kottikollon, KEF infra is the only company in India to employ BIM 6 Integration in its designs and building projects. The Revit-building software is specifically built for BIM, empowering design and construction professionals to bring ideas from concept to construction with a consistent and model-based approach.
Given its assembly line and automated processes, the concept of offsite construction adapted by KEF,can ensure time savings to up to 50% and cost savings up to 30%. It is even beneficial for the environment as it reduces wastage by recycling and avoids noise pollution, as most of the building components are manufactured in factorieslocated in the outskirts.
KEF Infra One Park is the largest off-site manufacturing facility in the world. Spread over 42 acres in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, the one-of-its-kind Infra Park is designed as a fully integrated one stop ‘Off-site manufacturing’ destination with 5 dedicated units – Precast & Concrete, Prefabricated Bathrooms & Modular MEP, Joinery & Fit Out, Aluminum Glazing And Stone Processing.
The sectors that KEF Infra is focused on include:
- Healthcare - KEF’s ‘assemble rather than build’ solution is aimed at bringing about a paradigm shift in healthcare infrastructure development. It reduces the timeframe of implementation by almost 50%. KEF Infra’s pilot healthcare project,Meitra Hospital – a 205-bed (in phase 1) tertiary hospital, is all set to be launched in Kozhikode (Calicut), India.
- IT and Business Parks - With the IT sector booming in India, technology giants need a quicker turnaround on staffing related infrastructure and real estate. KEF Infra offers a faster ROI to the clients, giving large business houses the leverage for the future. Embassy 7B and Infosys Electronic City, Phase II projects are a few Business Parks currently being built by KEF Infra.
- Commercial - For any commercial development – be it hotels, resorts, offices, time and quality of construction is essential. KEF Infra can deliver both, through its superlative technology. A few key mentions in the space include Bonjour hotels, and the Philip Johnson Glass House.
- Residential - In line with the government’s vision of affordable housing, KEF Infra is also making significant inroads into the residential segment. KEF Infra is working on prototypes of fully functional, affordable homes that cost as low as Rs 5 lakhs. These are modular homes that can be dismantled and moved, or even stacked together to build housing blocks. The classic example is Yenepoya’sMeridiYEN apartments in Mangalore.
- Education - School going children are the future of India, and to ensure their all-round development, schools need to upgrade their infrastructure to modern, global levels. KEF Infra can develop this infrastructure offsite and build schools without disrupting a school’s academic year. GVHSS Nadakkavu in Kozhikode, which was refurbished using KEF Infra’s offsite construction technology, is a perfect model for building/refurbishing schools across the nation. The girl’s Government school was renovated during the 90-day summer break at the school and now houses fully functional labs, auditorium, cafeteria, classrooms and an AstroTurf playground. The infrastructural shift has helped students grow holistically and take pride in their school. This has inspired more than 65 schools in the region to upgrade their facilities using the Nadakkavu Model, directly impacting more than 69,000 students. This model has inspired the Kerala Government to look at refurbishing 1000 more government schools in the state.
KEF Infra is committed to sustainable development goals with an intent to improve infrastructure in the country through a solution- based approach. As India rushes to climb the economic growth trajectory, it is time to adapt progressive using innovative methods for infrastructure development.
