Sustainability at Wipro
The core of Wipro’s sustainability initiatives, anchored under the eco-eye program, is focused on responsible and deep engagement with all key stakeholders. Over the last decade, we have set up the momentum for a corporation wide sustainability program at Wipro that involves employees, customers, suppliers, investors, the government, communities and the education system. As part of this charter, we have long term and strategic programs on dimensions like Energy and Emissions reduction (in 2017-18 renewable energy contributed to 33% of our India energy consumption, GHG emissions reduction of 24,000 tons of CO2 equivalent YoY), Water stewardship (41% water recycled of total water requirement), Waste management (across 35 categories of solid waste), Biodiversity (Campus retrofits at two large campuses), People Diversity (35% women workforce, 110+ nationalities, 442 persons with disabilities) and Responsible supply chain.
Our community care trust “Wipro Cares” works with communities on primary health care, education for underprivileged, environment, education for children with disabilities and disaster rehabilitation. ‘Wipro Applying Thought in Schools’ (WATIS), an initiative that addresses issues of systemic reforms in school education through its work with more than 100+ partners across the country. “Wipro earthian” is our national sustainability education program, which till date has participation from 8000+ colleges and schools.
