Established in 1997, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd. (TKM) is a subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation. A young and vibrant company, Toyota’s constant aim has been to innovate continuously and to play a major role in the development of the automotive industry.
TKM entered into the Indian market with the Toyota Qualis in 2000 which was a huge success. Later it launched Corolla (2003), Innova (2005), Fortuner (2009) and Etios (2010), Etios Liva (2011), Camry (locally manufactured) (2012). Apart from this Prado, Land Cruiser and Prius are imported. Keeping in mind the changing needs of the Indian customers, Toyota has offered an array of Toyota vehicles to the Indian market. With the Etios and the Etios Liva, Toyota entered the mass segment.
TKM's plants located in Bidadi, Karnataka are spread across 432 acres and has a capacity of 3,10,000 vehicles per annum. The first plant manufactures the Toyota Innova and the Fortuner and has a production capacity of 1,00,000 vehicles per annum. TKM's second manufacturing plant has a capacity of 2, 10,000 vehicles per annum. The second plant manufactures Corolla Altis, Etios, Etios Liva and Camry. TKM employs around 7,000 people.
