Brief Profile

Kapil is presently CEO at Hinduja Renewables Energy Pvt Ltd and heading the Hinduja Group initiatives in Renewable domain. He is responsible to develop the business from scratch with P&L responsibility. His role in HREPL is to develop and execute business growth strategies and team. He started this organization as one person and today created a team of 25 people, from zero to 250+ cr EBITDA company. Kapil is the key driver for growth of HREPL. He is able to do it with because of his exceptional techno commercial skills in Solar sector. He has acquired and developed projects in both rooftop and utility scale. At just age of 37, his leadership and people management qualities are unmatched which was clearly demonstrated during acquisition of 85 MW from Private equity shareholders of Kiran Energy and 23 MW from a French Developer. Both these acquisitions were completed at very high returns because of business acumen of Kapil Maheshwari. He was able to get credit line of 375 cr from SBI for rooftop projects. Presently working on 150 MW Greenfield projects in Private PPA model in Gujrat, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.

On his first project in the company which was development of 7 MW rooftop projects at 9 locations, he did everything on his own. From Project Management to Procurement to Engineering and signing PPA, all aspects were handled by Kapil alone. In this process he recruited key members of the team, closed first rooftop financing with SBI/World Bank and completed the projected before time and within budget.

He was recently awarded by CEO Monthly as part of Global CEO excellence Awards as Best Renewables CEO in India 2018 by conducting a global survey. He was also in the list of “40 under 40 “and top 100 leaders in Solar industry in India published by Solar Quarter. Under his leadership HREPL won the award for best rising developer in India for rooftop category and best Technical team for Solar Business.


  • Kapil has more than 16 years of professional experience in Solar field. He has experience of Design and Implementation of over 500 MW of Solar farms and Rooftop Installations in USA, Germany and India. Kapil has extensive experience of doing Sales and Business Development in Solar EPC, Modules and Inverters in India and USA.

  • Prior to joining HREPL, Kapil was Heading Business Development at Cleanmax Solar. Before that, Kapil was Head of Solar Inverters for India and EMEA for Danfoss Solar Inverters. Before that he was heading the Sales and Project Management for Germany’s largest Solar company Q-cells in India. Prior to that he was with Mahindra EPC where he was responsible to build EPC team from scratch.

  • Kapil started his professional career with GE Healthcare as Design Engineer Power Electronics. After that he moved to Applied Materials in California to work on bankability issues with Thin film Solar modules. Kapil worked with industry leaders and various banks in USA in Solar domain.

  • Kapil is M.Tech from IIT, Bombay in Electrical Engineering and Executive MBA from IIM, Bangalore. Kapil is also PMP certified project management professional. He is Six Sigma Green belt. Kapil has published various paper and articles in leading global conferences and magazines as solar industry expert.

  • Kapil has developed and executed strategies for sustainable and profitable growth. His areas of interest and expertise include Operations, Sales and Business Development, Project Management and Design and execution of Solar plants.
