CURRENT ROLE/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Unilever business of South Asia is a vibrant, exciting and a rapidly growing business. It has leading market shares in almost all categories and plans to more than double its size from its current 5 billion Euros turnover.
As a Supply Chain head of this Business, I have the following key deliverables:
1. Raise the bar on Customer Service
2. Improve our competitiveness by improving gross margins
3. Deliver superior product quality
4. Ensure that Capacities and Capabilities are in place on time to enable the South Asia Business in Unilever to double in a few years' time
In addition, I am also driving a few capability initiatives which will enable the Supply Chain of Unilever to become more responsive globally. These are in the area of Segmented Supply Chains.
I have the privilege of leading a team which is delivering more than 3 million tons of products annually from a network of almost 50 of our own factories and a similar number of co packers. This team of 150 + managers and 10,000 + employees is determined to leverage the Global Supply Chain capabilities of Unilever to create a demand driven supply chain with world class capabilities of Customer Service and Product Quality in South Asia. In this role, I sit on the Leadership Team of Unilever South Asia and as the Executive Director of Supply Chain on the Board of Hindustan Unilever Ltd.
UNILEVER CAREER:
I joined Unilever in India as a management Trainee in 1980.In the first decade with Unilever, I did a range of manufacturing roles in India and worked in London with the Team which managed the Overseas Businesses. The next phase involved working as the Head of Innovation in Skin Cleansing, being a Works Director of a large factory, heading a joint venture in Nepal as the MD and running the Oral SBU in India. In 2005, I again went to the Corporate Centre in London to work as the Group VP for Supply Chain in the Personal Care category. The focus here was delivery of global innovations, development of longer term Manufacturing Technology/Sourcing strategies and improvements to Category margins. I then worked with the Procurement team in Singapore for two years before taking up the current assignment.

I have a degree in Chemical Technology from Indian Institute of Technology New Delhi, India
PERSONAL:
I am married with two sons who are grown up and are starting up their own careers. My wife loves children and has taken up a career in teaching after the kids left home. We enjoy the good things in life like food, travel and films.
