Cristina Gamboa is the CEO of the Colombia Green Building Council (ConsejoColombiano de ConstrucciónSostenible, CCCS). She joined CCCS in August 2009 after a sixteen year career in economic research, journalism and international relations, both in Colombia and the USA. Her degrees include a BA in Economics from the University of Los Andes (Bogota, Colombia) and a MA in Economics and International Relations from Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS, Washington DC, USA). Cristina actively participates in several networks committed to sustainable development, low carbon growth and the transformation of the built environment towards sustainability. She joined the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) Board of Directors in July of 2013 and has been Vice Chair, Treasurer, Chair of the Business Development Committee, Chair of the Audit Committee and Chair of the Americas Regional Network. She also serves as Chair of LEED Steering Committee (2017), the global governing body for the LEED standards, by designation of the US Green Building Council Board of Directors. Thanks to her active and participatory leadership and thorough knowledge of the construction industry and its sustainability challenges, the CCCS has met significant milestones that have enabled the sustainable construction industry to become mainstream in Colombia.
