With an undergraduate degree from the reputed IIT Bombay, Gauranga Das is serving as the Director of Govardhan Eco village (GEV, www.ecovillage.org.in). He along with his team have implemented award winning environmental initiatives there including Water Conservation, Waste Management, Alternative Energy, Green Buildings, Organic Farming, Soil Bio Technology, Rural Empowerment and Global Outreach. Recently he led GEV to win the United Nations Award for Excellence and Innovation in Sustainable Tourism from the UNWTO. This is the first time India has won this recognition in the NGO sector. GEV has also received various other awards including the International Built Environment Awards, 5 Star Platinum Ratings from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and GRIHA for Eco-Friendly Construction, International Green World Awards, Skoch Renaissance and Platinum Award, Aqua Award, Smart Village Award, IAA Olive Crown Award, International Zero Waste Award, Spirit of Humanity Awards, Water Digest Award etc. GEV is a world class retreat center and inhouses the Govardhan School of Yoga which regularly attracts international students from over 25 countries. He also serves on the Temple Presidential Board of ISKCON Chowpatty, as a Trustee of ISKCON’s GBC College for Leadership Development, as a Divisional Director of ISKCON Worldwide Devotee Care, Temple Development and Systems Administration and as the Chairman of Bhaktivedanta Vidyapitha Research Center (BVRC). He is an inspirational speaker and gives spiritual guidance to corporate leaders, students in premier institutes and doctors both in India and abroad
