Mr. Kanwal Jeet Jawa is one of the most revered professionals in the Indian Airconditioning Industry; he has demonstrated success in delivering business growth and efficiency at every stage of his professional career. He has over 3.5 (three and half) decades of experience in the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration (AC & R) industry and has held top level positions in the field of general management with highly reputed AC & R companies.
Mr. Jawa’s career has been underscored by active exposure in various companies and businesses related to the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration industry. To name a few he has worked with industry stalwarts such as Blue Star and Voltas.
He joined Carrier India in 1987 as founder member, where in a span of 14 years he held senior management positions. He has been a recipient of the prestigious Chairman’s Award for Best General Manager across Asia Pacific Oceania Region.
In 2001, he moved to Voltas India, as Regional VP for Cooling Appliances; where subsequently he was promoted to Senior Vice President in 2005, heading its Manufacturing, Sales, Marketing & Exports division. At Voltas, he is regarded as the man behind the revival of the Voltas brand in India through innovation on products, people, service, brand & processes to regain market leadership position in 2006.
His first stint as a director was on the Board of Universal Comfort Products Ltd. (a Voltas subsidiary).
Mr. Jawa’s reputation as the go to man for establishing and running a Greenfield manufacturing unit, led Uniflair India, a precision Airconditioning manufacturing company, to make him the Country Head for a period of 3.5 years.
Mr. Jawa’s mantras of success can be summarized as speedy execution coupled with a go to market strategy which helped Daikin India achieve exponential growth and attain No.1 HVAC brand in India. Today, Daikin India, under his leadership is heralding other Japanese organizations to follow its lead.
With him at the helm, Daikin India has scaled greater heights year after year. Mr. Jawa has steered the Daikin ship through rough waters and ever changing dynamic economic environment with guts and gumption to achieve glory. Under his remarkable leadership, today Daikin India is a 3,000 cr enterprise selling 7,00,000 Residential Air-conditioners.
His long term vision to improve the lagging skill level prevailing in the Indian HVAC industry, especially in the unorganized sector, led to the inception of a successful CSR initiative, focused on training and learning, which has now come to be named as Daikin “Centers of Excellence”.
His inclination and interest in the skill development; and improvement in the employability of the workforce has made him dabble in the field of academics. He is an active member of air-conditioning manufacturers associations. Besides that, he is also on the advisory board of Lal Bahadur Shastri College of Management, Delhi; and member of the governing body of the renowned Bhartiya Skill Development University, Jaipur.
He holds prestigious membership positions in the Executive Committee of IGBC; and Northern Regional Council of Confederation of Indian Industry.
